This is a plain-language, good-faith description of what Meridian (命連) actually does with your data today, written by the project's developer — not a lawyer. It has not had formal legal review and should not be relied on as a legal document until it does.
What we collect
- Birth data (date, time, timezone, and location) you enter to compute a chart. This is required for the calculations to work.
- Names you enter for name analysis or generation.
- Email address, only if you create an account (used solely for passwordless sign-in — we never see or store a password).
- Your people list (your chart, the people you add with the nickname and birth details you give them, and their readings), only while you are signed in — it is stored with your account so it appears on every device you sign in on; earlier saved results; and a record of what you have purchased (never card details). Signed out, this stays in your browser only.
- IP address, used transiently and only in server memory (never written to a database) to apply free-tier usage limits and prevent abuse. It is hashed before use and cleared whenever the server restarts.
How it's used
Birth data and names are used to compute charts and readings, and nothing else. If you request an AI-written reading, the computed chart data (which includes your birth data, since it's part of the calculation context) is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the narrative text — the AI never performs any calculation itself, only interpretation of numbers our own code already computed. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Who we share it with
- Google AI Studio (Gemini API) — receives computed chart data to write readings, per Google's own terms and privacy policy.
- Supabase — hosts authentication and the database for your people list and readings, only if you create an account.
- Our hosting providers (frontend and backend infrastructure) may keep standard web server access logs (e.g. IP addresses) as part of normal operation, outside our direct control.
- Stripe — processes payments for the full report and the Plus subscription, only if you buy one. Stripe receives your email and payment details directly; we receive only a customer id and the outcome. Birth data is never sent to Stripe.
- Google Ad Manager — may show a rewarded ad while a free reading is being generated, if ads are enabled on this deployment. Google's own privacy terms apply to the ad itself; we pass it no birth data or names.
- PostHog — cookieless product analytics (page views and button-level events such as "chart computed"), if enabled. Form contents — birth data, names — are never captured; nothing persists across visits.
Ads and analytics only run when the operator has configured them; without configuration none of these scripts load.
Your controls
- You can use chart calculation and (rate-limited) AI readings without ever creating an account.
- If you have an account, you can remove any person from your list (which deletes them from the account on every device), delete any earlier saved result, or delete your entire account — including all saved data — at any time from the account page. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Every reading Meridian generates — Bazi, Western astrology, or the combined synthesis — is for entertainment and reference purposes only. It is not professional, medical, financial, or legal advice, and none of it should be treated as a factual prediction.
Children
Meridian is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect data from them.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
